FUN THINGS TO DO THIS EARTH DAY

Earth Day started in 1970 and is celebrated April 22. We’ve compiled a list of fun activities to do on this upcoming Earth Day:

1. Calculate Your Carbon Footprint

Determining the amount of CO2 you produce through your daily routine is the first step to fixing it. This is one of those things you can’t “un-know” once you know. Warning: The results come with a little side of guilt.

2. Give up using your vehicle
Make a decision to use public transportation, ride a bike, or walk on Earth Day.

3. Make your home efficient
Don’t overuse appliances and waste energy. Save money and the environment by using energy-efficient light bulbs.

4. Don’t be a water hog
Be mindful of the water you use when brushing your teeth and washing dishes. Does the faucet really need to be on while you brush your teeth or wash that plate?

5. Reuse – and ditch the plastic
We are all well aware of the massive problem plastics are causing to our environment so avoid using them at all costs and, instead, opt for reusable containers and bags free of plastics.

What activities do you have planned for this upcoming Earth Day and how do you share the importance of conservation? For us, we’ll take a hike into Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas and share memories and experiences with our children while teaching them to make their voices heard and keep these unique places safe for future generations to enjoy. We’ll also encourage our family to watch their water usage and opt for using our bikes. By taking these small steps, we can collectively stat making a bigger difference.
